PastureBox helps guarantee the quality of your feed, year-round by sprouting microgreens within an enclosed, climate-controlled environment. Typical livestock producers deal with significant fluctuation in feed prices and quality year-round. The PastureBox can reduce the variables that cause these fluctuations and provide a consistent, fresh, nutritious feed, year-round and under all environmental conditions. The PastureBox is entirely automated, reducing labor cost input and streamlining the sprouting process.

We expect the PastureBox to last 20 years. There will be periodic maintenance requirements for the box, but overall you should be able to expect your PastureBox to provide reliable feed for 20 years.

The Pasturebox produces approximately 2,000 pounds of barley fodder each day. At any given time there will be 6 days-worth of seed at different stages of the growing cycle. A full 6-day cycle will produce 12,000 pounds of fodder.

The PastureBox takes six days to convert seed to the final product, fodder (microgreens). There is no pre-soak process needed before seeding takes place on day 1.

Fodder is the term used for sprouted microgreens fed to livestock. Barley and wheat fodder are common, among various other types of seeds. The seeds sprout and bind together to form a root mat during the first days of the cycle. The latter part of the cycle is when sprouts will begin to send out shoots, resulting in fresh, microgreens that are approximately 4-6 inches in length.

Microgreens are sprouted seeds and are highly nutritious and digestible. They are the result of the early sprouting process of a seed and are young and tender, providing nutrients that are more readily available and accessible to animals. The microgreens are considered organic and no herbicides, pesticides, or fertilizers are used during the sprouting process.

Typically an animal will consume 2-3% of its body weight in fodder. Some larger livestock species (cattle, goats, sheep) can consume up to 66% of their diet as fodder.
